Chris received her B.S. with honors in Art Education from the Pennsylvania State University.  More recently, she has studied with truly inspirational artists who have shared much painting wisdom, including Chester Arnold, Randall Sexton, Armand Cabrera, Van Waldron and Brian Blood.

Her next Open Studio is May 5 & 6, 2012.  Please visit and see her latest work in her studio on the edge of the San Francisco Bay!

Chris Adessa is an award-winning landscape painter living in Marin County, California.  A transplant from western New York State, Chris is well suited to appreciate the majestic California landscape and glorious climate.  The ever-changing boundary between land and sea captivates her.  She uses her palette and brushes to capture the play of light on the mist and the rugged cliffs and shores.

She’s exhibited in national, regional and solo shows including in the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, the Napa Valley Museum, Bolinas Museum and Lindsay Wildlife Museum.  She appeared live on KRON-TV teaching Henry Tenenbaum to oil paint; the internationally acclaimed Sausalito Art Festival featured her work; and the Marin Conservation League showcased her painting on the cover of its Annual Report.  The di Rosa Preserve in Napa showed her work at their SLIDESLAM event.

Chris was commissioned to paint a vineyard vista for a national TV and print advertising campaign, and was hired as technical advisor to the creative director.  She has painted in the Point Reyes Plein Air Paint-Off and the Mill Valley Art Commission's Plein Air Paint-Off.  She has exhibited across the U.S. from California to Connecticut and her work is collected internationally.

Wanting to return the good fortune of living and painting in the Bay Area, Chris supports environmental causes.  She is a member of the BayWood Artists who produce an annual show to highlight and raise funds for an environmental nonprofit each year.
